About
Hi! Thanks for visiting!
I am the author of Modern Potluck, a cookbook that has been featured in The New York Times (twice!), Food & Wine, Epicurious, Serious Eats, and many, many wonderful blogs. I am a food writer and a recipe developer with more than a decade of experience in the food world.
From 2005 to 2013, I worked as a food editor at Food & Wine magazine where I covered everything from chefs to trends to wine to design to kitchen tools to artisans to travel and more. I was the go-to editor for all things related to healthy eating and wine pairing, two specialities that I think showcase my food philosophy nicely: Eat healthfully, indulge sometimes, and enjoy it always.
Using my training as a journalist, a former wine saleswoman, and a cook (I have a diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education), I wrote and edited features and recipes in collaboration with chefs from all over the world. On behalf of the magazine, I traveled the US in search of new and exciting restaurants and talent for stories and the annual Food & Wine Best New Chefs feature. I also led seminars at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen about wine. I have appeared in TV segments on New York 1 and CBS Morning and have taught the Food Writing class for MediaBistro.com. Being a food editor at F&W was my absolute dream job, but eventually, I needed more time for my lip balm business, Stewart & Claire, and my little girl, both of which are rapidly growing.
I now cook, write, and teach in and around beautiful New Hope, Pennsylvania. I have worked with many other cookbook authors to help them birth their books. I regularly contribute to publications, such as EveryDay with Rachael Ray, Women's Health, and Cherry Bombe magazines. For fun, I keep a journal over at Eat Better Drink Better. I am available for writing, editing, project management, recipe development, recipe testing, and other content production.
